Everybody worships something. If worship means anything that gets our complete attention and devotion, then we are surrounded by things that are in direct competition with God. While God knows that our demanding lives require a high degree of focus on many things, He also clearly communicates that we should put nothing before Him (Exodus 20:3, the first commandment). Our mission in the Worship Ministry at Highland Park is to encourage people to put Jesus Christ first, which is a basic definition of worship. In fact, we believe that worship stands at the center of our faith, and that a life lived without worshiping God in all things and at all times will be empty and devoid of purpose. Because our God is a life-giving God, He meant for even our most mundane activities to be life-giving to us. This happens through WORSHIP!
At Highland Park, those who lead in worship ministry seek to bring weekly inspiration to live in this fashion. By using the vehicles of music, media, drama, and timely messages, we hope to provide an environment where Jesus is experienced as well as taught; that we will not only know about Him, but that we will know Him. We believe that experiencing His presence will lead to transformed living. It is our prayer that as we encounter God within the walls of Highland Park, God will stir change outside its walls because of the overflow of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. Weekly worship services at Highland Park have several components, most of which require large numbers of volunteers to maintain the level of excellence that we seek. Of course, each week the centerpiece of our worship time is a message from our Lead Pastor, Brett Pitman. These Bible-based sermons will give you practical insights into how to apply scripture to your life. You can discover more about the various areas of worship ministry through the links below:
